NEW JERSEY (Reuters) – The New Jersey Business Opportunities Agency (NJBOP) said on Friday it had named former executive director Paul Kasten as the agency’s new CEO.
Kasten, a former top executive at the New York City Housing Authority, previously served as chief financial officer for the state Department of Health and Senior Services and as chief operating officer of the New Jersey Department of Transportation.NJBop, which oversees a $4.3 trillion business sector, has been plagued by scandals in recent years, including the arrest of top executives over allegations of bribery.
In 2014, a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into the agency found it failed to take proper steps to prevent misconduct by top officials.
