In 2017, the Liberal party was forced to drop its plan to cut taxes by $100 billion in 2019.
That sparked a political crisis in the House of Commons, as the Conservatives were forced to scrap a key promise to increase the Canada Pension Plan, which they had been advocating for years.
And the Liberals won a minority government in a confidence vote that was widely seen as a repudiation of Trudeau’s Liberals.
